Terms of use

Last updated 8 August 2026 · applies to the Kaal iPhone app and trykaal.com

The short version. Use Kaal for yourself and for people who are happy to be read. A reading is a tradition’s point of view, offered for reflection, not advice, and not a forecast of what will happen. The subscription renews until you cancel; cancel it in iOS Settings, at least 24 hours before the period ends.

Using the app

Kaal is licensed to you, not sold. You may use it on the devices your Apple ID allows, for your own personal, non-commercial use. Do not redistribute the app, resell readings generated by it, or take it apart in order to rebuild it, and do not use it to harass, profile or make decisions about somebody who has not asked to be read.

What a reading is

Kaal computes real astronomical positions and reads them through a classical tradition. The astronomy is checkable and we stand behind it. The reading is an interpretation: the tradition’s point of view, written to be useful for reflection.

It is not advice. Kaal does not tell you what will happen, and nothing in it should stand in for a doctor, a lawyer, a financial adviser or your own judgement. Decisions you take after reading are yours. Where the tradition flags something, Kaal names the classical reason it is softened in the same breath, because a flag without its context is a scare rather than a reading.

Other people’s charts

You can enter someone else’s birth details to read a match. If you do, you are saying you have a reasonable basis to, and a chart you typed in yourself can never be turned into a shareable card, by design. Only a chart that arrived from its own owner’s device can appear on one. If someone sends you their chart by invite, use it for the match they sent it for, and delete it when you are done; deleting it in the app removes it.

Subscription

Kaal Insight is an auto-renewing subscription, billed by Apple to your Apple ID. It renews at the end of each period unless you turn renewal off at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel it in iOS Settings. A free trial, where offered, applies to the annual plan and to first-time subscribers only, one per Apple ID; if you cancel during the trial you are not charged until its term ends, and any unused part of a trial is forfeited when you subscribe.

Prices are shown in your own currency before you buy and can change with notice. Refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store’s terms, not by us, though write to us anyway if something went wrong, and we will help where we can. The free part of Kaal stays free.

Availability, and changes

Kaal runs on your device and works offline, so it does not depend on us staying online, but we make no promise that the app is uninterrupted or error-free, and features may change as it develops. If we make a change to these terms that materially affects you, the date at the top changes and the app says so.

Liability

Kaal is provided “as is”, to the fullest extent the law where you live permits. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions taken after reading. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, and if you are a consumer you keep every statutory right you have.
